Just a few days after the victorious weekend at Silverstone in the British Grand Prix, as Spanish driver Carlos Sainz took his first Formula 1 race win, Scuderia Ferrari now heads to Austria with the hope of being able to get the better of Red Bull again, this time on the true ‘home’ track of the team led by Christian Horner. The Red Bull Ring is in fact a racing circuit owned by the group headed by Dietrich Mateschitz. Max Verstappen – top driver of the Milton Keynes team – has won four times in the last six races at this venue.
In the mountains of Styria, Scuderia Ferrari will also embrace one of the most important men on the pit wall, sporting director Laurent Mekies. The Frenchman had in fact skipped the Silverstone race due to a positive Covid-19 test. Laurent Mekies had therefore worked remotely for the English round, while in this case – after having two negative tests, he will be well present in the Ferrari garage alongside team principal Mattia Binotto. Good news for the Maranello team with just a few days ahead of a very important weekend for the battle against Red Bull in both championships.
