The times table at the end of the second free practice session earlier today shows a Ferrari far behind the leaders in the second consecutive race at the Red Bull Ring circuit. In Austria, in fact, the two red single-seaters finished Friday afternoon out of the top-10, with Carlos Sainz 13th and Charles Leclerc 16th in the ranking. However, both SF21s were slowed down by the light rain that fell on the Styrian track during the afternoon. The evolution of weather conditions over the weekend is closely monitored by the teams. In fact, it is not excluded that there may also be glimpses of Sunday in the race.
To confirm this important detail here are the words of Ferrari sporting director Laurent Mekies, interviewed by Sky Sport F1: “The weather will play an important role – commented the Ferrari boss, who then concentrated on the work done by the Maranello team on track – “last week we had a more competitive race with the choices we made, being more aggressive on the wings. Rightly in a second weekend here we are also experimenting more. Now we will go and see what the positive points are” – Laurent Mekies pointed out, according to Sky Sport F1 – “but in any case we know that there is still work to be done to fix the car “. – the Ferrari sporting director concluded.
