Preparations for the Las Vegas GP continue, and the latest extravagance involves the famous Sphere, transformed into an attraction not particularly welcomed by locals.
Americans love to go big, and the newest spectacle is centered on the preparations for the Las Vegas GP and its Sphere. The ellipsoidal attraction is located near the Strip, in the eastern area of The Venetian resort.
It is one of Nevada’s most iconic tourist landmarks, hosting music and entertainment events. With the return of the Las Vegas GP last year, the luminous Sphere came back to life—this time with a new twist.
Video footage shared by the social media account *How Things Work* shows The Sphere completely transformed into a giant spinning Formula 1 wheel. Its exterior is covered in millions of high-resolution LED panels, creating realistic illusions visible from a distance.
The attraction has drawn the curiosity of many but also sparked the usual criticisms. It’s no surprise that Strip residents are complaining about the Grand Prix preparations. Last year, disruptions included traffic congestion and road closures or diversions. Moreover, several restaurants reported a drop in clientele as the construction works discouraged people from visiting Strip venues.
This year, the same issues are likely to resurface, yet Formula 1 continues to push for greater spectacle. The Las Vegas Sphere, spinning for its GP, is just another example of this drive.
Organizers are also abuzz with anticipation as Max Verstappen could secure his fourth world championship title at the upcoming race, and they are planning a grand celebration ceremony to mark the occasion.
