Scuderia Ferrari Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen was given a different type of Formula 1 winter testing with Ferrari partners Shell as he took part in an ice karting race against some lucky fans. The Maranello team’s driver, who is preparing for his 16th F1 season and eighth campaign with the Italian manufacturer, has recently demonstrated how he has been getting ready for the 2018 F1 World Championship having joined Instagram for the first time.
As part of a partner sponsorship commitment, Raikkonen has returned to the race track in the Swiss Alps to race against fans in an ice karting event hosted by Shell as part of its promotion for its Shell V-Power fuel and Helix Ultra synthetic motor oils. Kimi Raikkonen’s next official Formula One appearance will be part of the Ferrari team launch on the 22nd February at Maranello which will be broadcast online. The 2007 F1 World Champion has re-signed on a one-year deal with the Italian manufacturer for the upcoming campaign alongside Sebastian Vettel to mark a fourth consecutive year of an unchanged driver line-up at Ferrari.
Reports have recently emerged on Kimi Raikkonen preparing for the 2018 Formula One season with a new race engineer after the departure of Dave Greenwood who is heading to Manor for its World Endurance Championship LMP1 campaign. Carlo Santi has been named as the front-runner to become Raikkonen’s new race engineer for 2018.
