Kimi Raikkonen can’t resist challenges on the track, especially if he can involve his son. The former Ferrari world champion is spending the Christmas holidays in his native Finland with his family. His son Robin, about to turn nine, is a karting phenomenon.
The talent is undoubtedly inherited from his father, and it’s not only visible on the track but also off it. This summer, a funny exchange between Raikkonen Jr. and his interviewer went viral.
After reaching the podium at the Kartodromo Sette Laghi Kart in Castelletto di Branduzzo, the young champion responded to the interviewer’s questions with monosyllabic answers, just like dad Kimi used to do when he was still racing in Formula 1.
Kimi Raikkonen, the 2007 Formula One world champion, has always made it clear that he doesn’t want to force any of his children to follow in his footsteps. However, Robin has shown from the start that he has the makings of his father.
Father and son, a challenge on the ice
During the Christmas weekend, Kimi Raikkonen took his son into the snowy woods to involve him in a karting race: the result is spectacular.
Between Kimi and Robin begins a tough challenge of overtaking on the icy track. The whole event was captured on video by Toni Vilander; the latter is a Finnish driver currently racing for Ferrari in various categories of motorsports. Born in 1980, Vilander was crowned Endurance world champion in 2014 driving a Ferrari 458 Italia GT2.
We don’t know who won the snowy challenge between father and son, but the participants themselves must not have been bored. In short, the holidays in Kimi Raikkonen’s family are marked by fun and adventure.
