Kimi Raikkonen has been the absolute veteran of the Formula 1 field in the previous years, until he decided to end his illustrious career after 2021. The Iceman’ celebrates his 45nd birthday. This makes him more than twenty years older than Lando Norris, but you probably still wouldn’t notice that in a Formula One car.
Kimi Raikkonen was considered perhaps the most promising talent in Formula 1 in the early 2000s. Especially in his McLaren years he made a big impression with his pure speed. With a little less bad luck he could have had more world titles to his name in that period. In 2003 he was close to it and especially 2005 slipped through his fingers due to mechanical problems.
From supertalent to stable factor
Since his comeback in 2012, Kimi Raikkonen has mainly been regarded as a reliable driver. The 2020 season brought him to a new record for the number of F1 starts and he continued to tighten that record until the end of the 2021 F1 campaign.
Today marks the 45nd birthday of one of the most influential, talented and loved Formula 1 drivers of all time: Kimi Räikkönen. The 2007 season was the last winning season for Scuderia Ferrari, the first with Kimi holding the steering wheel. His professionalism, his undeniable talent and his dry-witted character make him a fan favourite, with a poll stating that Kimi is the second most-loved driver (after Michael Schumacher) among Scuderia Ferrari’s tifosi.
Happy Birthday Kimi, and congratulations!
