Scudria Ferrari junior Arthur Leclerc, Charles Leclerc’s brother, was interviewed by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport:
“It’s difficult for Charles to give me advices in a category he’s never raced in. And he doesn’t have much time because he drives in F1. My brothers help me but I have to learn by myself.”
“I saw Charles and I asked my dad if I could do like him. At one point I thought I had completely closed my career, I was just driving the simulators to pass the time for a while. Returning to racing was a wonderful surprise.”
First F1 memories?
“Setting the alarm clock at dawn to watch the GP on TV, at the age of 6-7. Then I turned on the Playstation and tried to do the same moves as the real drivers, dreaming of being in F1.”
Why did you want to become a racing driver?
“Because I always wanted it. I promised my dad that I would return to competitions.”
What memories do you have of Jules?
“We used to drive karts at Brignoles. I remember that with my brother he broke a bottle and put it at one point to show me the braking point. To joke around they removed it and I didn’t know where to brake anymore.”
What did you learn in Maranello?
“A lot: from the physics of the tyres, to the technique, very useful things. If you understand how tyres behave then you can improve race management. And then in addition to Italian, they teach me physical preparation.”
Do you live alone?
“No, at Mom’s house in Monaco.” Who are your idols? Arthur: “Senna, I’ve seen all the movies about him. And Schumacher!”
Your F1 dream is getting closer..
“Sure, F1 is my goal. But now I think about winning the F3 Regional championship and keep on learning. So no distractions, I want to do well here in Monza.”
A Leclerc-Leclerc duo at Ferrari, can you think about it?
“Please let’s not rush our minds too much…”
