Brilliant drive from Kimi Raikkonen at the Tuscan Grand Prix, as the 2007 Formula One world champion managed to avoid several incidents during the race and also finished ahead of both Scuderia Ferrari cars on track. However, the Alfa Romeo driver was given the news with around 10 laps remaining at the Mugello Circuit that he received a five-second penalty, as he had crossed a line on pit entry.
His colleague continued: “So we’ll add five seconds to your time at the end of your race.” This repetition prompted an angry outburst from the Finn, as he screamed the same question, “FOR WHAT?”
He would have leapfrogged Charles Leclerc in eighth had he not incurred the penalty. At the end of the race Kimi admitted that he was aware of the incident and replied in a manner that only Kimi could pull off: “Usually it is allowed to do but I knew that here it’s not allowed. However, I couldn’t drive back anymore, so I thought no one would notice. Somehow they [the stewards] found out,” Kimi Räikkönen stated and laughed.
