In his usual Tuesday editorial for Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera, former Scuderia Ferrari driver Jean Alesi, who remains a fan favorite, analyzed the situation at the Maranello team, focusing on the next appointment at Monza, the home track of Ferrari, who is looking forward to racing in front of the Tifosi.
According to the Frenchman, a victory for Charles Leclerc in Italy would make 2022 Formula 1 season unforgettable for Ferrari. A statement which is debatable given the latest results and taking into consideration the fact that the F1-75 proved to be a car capable of challenging Red Bull until the Hungarian Grand Prix, but the Italian side was not able to capitalize on the speed of the car on several occasions this season.
In his analysis for the the Corriere della Sera newspaper, Jean Alesi first of all wrote: “While I am waiting for the Italian Grand Prix, I want to think of a Ferrari that will prove to be capable of giving me, and all the fans, a memorable Sunday. I know, it no longer makes sense to think about the world championship title, we had this dream of winning the title, we had exciting days and disappointments. We had a winning car that now seems to be in trouble. But this race is worth an entire season to me. Ninety minutes of on-track battles capable of giving more value and importance to the entire year” .
The former Ferrari driver continued: “So I would really like Charles Leclerc to have a great performance and win, I would like to see a red car in Olympic form, quick and consistent for an unforgettable Sunday that should rewards the enthusiasm and passion of an entire fan base. I know, it won’t be easy, there are only a few days available to regain the momentum that allowed Ferrari to win at the beginning of the season, to fight to win until a few weeks ago. Let’s leave aside the controversy, the anger and the mistakes that are so easy to criticize. I know from experience what it means to race as a Ferrari driver on this historic, magical circuit”.

Finally, Jean Alesi concluded: “Winning at Monza means enjoying celebrations that nothing and no one can ever cancel. So, let’s do it! With the hope of seeing ability, determination and even a little bit of luck, which has been long overdue.”
