Difficult moments at Red Bull
On Thursday, Christian Horner attended the team principal press conference, facing a frontal attack from Zak Brown. Brown did not shy away from assaulting Red Bull, starting from the ‘suspicious’ synergy with the satellite team Racing Bulls, and not forgetting the letter emphasizing how the Milton Keynes-based team had not adhered to the 2021 budget cap. In that letter, Brown had used harsh words against Red Bull.
The coming week could be decisive for the future of Red Bull’s team principal. Although Helmut Marko recently emphasized that it might take a long time before the “turbulence” shaking Red Bull due to the internal investigation against Christian Horner comes to an end (in case of his departure, the ‘temporary’ successor could be the current sporting director Jonathan Wheatley).
Jarno Trulli has pointed out that, from his point of view, Red Bull could suffer repercussions if Christian Horner were to indeed leave the helm of the Anglo-Austrian team: “It takes little to waver when such an important leader exits – the words of the former Formula 1 driver interviewed by the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport – Ferrari was practically unbeatable with Jean Todt and Stefano Domenicali, and their departure almost reset it.”
