This year, Scuderia Ferrari is eager to repay the Tifosi’s faith in the team: “We look forward to rewarding your loyalty and returning to our winning ways,” said Ferrari’s executive chairman John Elkann at the end of the digital presentation the team hosted on Feb. 17 to unveil the new single-seater car.
After a brief demonstration at the Fiorano test track, the Ferrari F1-75 car will be run at the pre-season track session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Spain, from Feb. 23 to 25. This will be followed by the official pre-season test in Bahrain from March 10 to 12, a week before the new season kicks off with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
In the meantime, we have also seen the Mercedes W13 for the 2022 Formula 1 season and what sticks out is the huge difference as compared to the F1-75 car.

As in 2017, Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes are at diametrically opposite points for now regarding the technical project level. In the 2017 Formula 1 season, the short and agile SF70 created difficulties for the ‘bus’ W08 during two thirds of the championship:
“The W13 is very different in philosophy from the F1-75” – Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera wrote after both Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari officially presented their cars fir the next season – “It is silver again, faithful to a winning and preserved aerodynamic tradition, but of course according to the new regulation. The line of the rear has no analogy with the Ferrari choices. Rather, it recalls the car of 2021, unlike the nose, which has been profoundly changed”. Excluding Red Bull, the other seven teams that have already presented the 2022 single-seaters have put different solutions and ideas on the table. For now we see different aerodynamic options and ideas which will most likely converge as the season the season progresses and each teams identifies and implements the best solution.
In the meantime, after a lot of homologation, it is nice to note as the Milanese newspaper points out that “the world of Formula 1, at least for a few more days, is beautiful because it is varied”.
