Speaking exclusively in an interview for F1 Web Magazine, Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi analyzed the main events during the last few weeks for Scuderia Ferrari, focusing on the ‘unprecedented’ behavior of the team’s top management and the atmosphere that reigns in Maranello. We report some of his most important comments below:
Giorgio Terruzzi’s words on the situation at Ferrari
You recently underlined the need for a strong figure at Ferrari. Can you elaborate on this concept?
“There is a sort of protracted silence, even in critical moments, on the part of the top management. This is an absolute novelty because it wasn’t like that with Enzo Ferrari, it wasn’t like that with Luca di Montezemolo and it wasn’t like that with Sergio Marchionne. Everyone has their own character and his own style. Perhaps, however, making the boss’ voice heard from time to time, or to support or even to make political pressure felt – and not to wage political war – could be useful”.
In your opinion, is there a risk of having to change again in view of 2026?
“I don’t think so, they can’t afford it. Among other things, the problem is technical: the team principal manages a group of technicians, but he’s not the one who makes the car”.

But he is the one who chooses the figures…
“Yes, but it’s not easy to do. If you hire an engineer from another team, he has to be out for a year (due to the gardening leave, ed). You have to convince him to come and live in Maranello, in a situation of instability and pressure that no team has. Life at Ferrari is different from the life of someone who works at Red Bull or Mercedes. Who knows the name of the designer who screwed up Mercedes last year? No one. At Ferrari if a screw gets stuck it ends up in the papers for a week. It’s not simple: you have to find first-level people, and this in itself is not easy, because they are married, because they leave in other countries; you have to convince them to move to Italy, to Maranello, which is often a complication, especially for those with families, in a team where every mistake is paid threefold”.
