“A new era for motorsports.” This is the message that the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix wants to convey with the trophy designed for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Losail International Circuit decided to entrust the design of the official trophy for the 2023 Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix to an Italian design excellence: the Pininfarina studio.
“The creation of the cup was the result of a three-month joint venture between the organizers and Pininfarina,” the press release reads. The trophy encapsulates the essence of the track, referring to the renovation work carried out at the Doha facility.
The Trophy Design:
The artisans at Pininfarina have reproduced a wave motif, drawing inspiration from the shapes of desert sand dunes. Purple, reminiscent of the traditional Sadu carpet, was chosen for the centerpiece. The trophy is made of satin steel, a material that embodies Pininfarina’s typical elegance.
“Advanced laser printing technologies were used in creating the cup,” the press release continues. “Pininfarina succeeded in incorporating unique elements of Qatari culture while maintaining a modern aesthetic.”
Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of the Pininfarina Group, stated: “The Losail trophy aims to celebrate Qatar. Here, progress moves swiftly, and the natural and cultural heritage is the essence of the country. Thanks to the skills of our highly qualified artisans, the design has been transformed into a magnificent work of art.”
