The 2025 Formula 1 Grand Prix Championship is now well underway, and team Red Bull has gotten off to a relatively poor start. Much of the blame is being put on their new driver Liam Lawson, who was recently promoted to replace Sergio Perez who parted ways with Red Bull in December 2024.

In the opening race of the season on 16 March on the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit at the Australian GP, Verstappen finished second. Lawson did not finish (DNF), which was the worst start he could have asked for.
At the Chinese GP on the Shanghai International Circuit on 23 March, Verstappen finished in fourth place, and Lawson ended up finishing in 12th.

He may not be a world-class driver yet, but he could one day become a true great. He earned his promotion and has become the newest teammate for four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen.
It will take time for the two drivers to gel with each other on the track and form a good understanding of how the other drives. Lawson is only contracted to drive for the first team under the Red Bull banner until the end of 2025, so he will try everything within his power to prove to his team that they made the right decision in selecting him.
He won’t want to disappoint them, so he will quickly need to sharpen his performance and start earning points for his team.
Some have described his entry into the F1 GP in Australia as a baptism of fire, and that he is not ready to compete at this level. Others have suggested that it would make more sense to replace Lawson with 24-year-old Japanese Yuki Tsunoda, who currently competes in Formula One for Racing Bulls.

As it stands, when you compare the latest odds for the 2025 F1 Constructors Championship outright winner betting market, you will see that most sites currently have Red Bull as the fourth odds-on favourite to win, behind Mercedes in third, Ferrari in second and the odds-on favourite McLaren.
Red Bull is currently priced at around 25/1 in the fractional odds format, meaning they only have a 3.80% implied probability rate of winning this season. 25/1 is the same as 26.00 in decimal odds and +2,500 in American/moneyline odds.
