
Among the variables that could determine the outcome of the Shanghai race is undoubtedly the choice of the right strategy. Let’s see what Pirelli predicts for the Chinese GP and what Ferrari might opt for.
Three options for the teams
According to Pirelli’s forecasts, a two-stop strategy is expected. The fastest approach should involve starting on medium tires before switching twice to hard tires.
In this case, the pit stop windows range from lap 14 to lap 20 and from lap 32 to lap 38.
An alternative strategy could be starting on medium tires, switching to hard tires, and finishing on another set of mediums. If teams opt for this strategy, the pit stop windows would be between lap 14 and lap 20 and between lap 34 and lap 40.
The third option involves starting on soft tires and then making two stints on hard tires. In this case, pit stops would be between lap 8 and lap 14 and between lap 28 and lap 34.
For this weekend, Pirelli has chosen to bring Hard C2, Medium C3, and Soft C4 compounds. Here are the remaining tire sets available to the drivers:
