How far along is Ferrari’s 2026 F1 car? Latest updates on chassis, suspension and aero. Ferrari 2026 development update: chassis, suspension and aerodynamics revealed.

At what stage is the development of the Ferrari 2026? New info on chassis, suspension and much more…

The development of the Ferrari 2026 continues without pause, and new details have emerged concerning the chassis, suspension and aerodynamics of the new red car from Maranello.

Scuderia Ferrari stopped updating the SF-25 some time ago to fully dedicate resources to the 2026 Formula 1 challenger. Important information is now emerging about the work on the chassis, the suspension systems and the aerodynamic package of the new machine.

The SF-25 was not the car everyone expected. The rear suspension update helped only to reduce mechanical issues and to slightly improve traction, braking stability and lower plank wear. Engineers were able to run the car a little lower, but the structural limitations remained significant. McLaren’s dominance eliminated any chance of a fight, leading technical director Loic Serra and head of aerodynamics Diego Tondi to cancel a new floor that had already been tested in CFD and in the wind tunnel. That solution was scheduled to debut at the next race in Azerbaijan. Development of the current car was stopped in mid-June, one month earlier than originally planned at the start of the season. It is already clear there will be no more upgrades. The Ferrari 2026 is now the only car in the wind tunnel, and new information has surfaced on its main components.

Ferrari 2026 already 70% complete

According to Rosario Giuliana writing for The Race, the Ferrari 2026 is already 70% complete. In Maranello, aerodynamic development of the main components will continue until November. A base chassis and suspension package have already been defined, following for the first time the direct input of technical director Loic Serra. Based on details reported by Giuliano Duchessa in the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, the aerodynamic work led by Diego Tondi will also include modifications to the design of the front axle. Serra is carrying out a real revolution in the suspension concept, an area that is fundamental for the proper performance of the car. The mechanical side has been one of the biggest weaknesses of recent Formula 1 cars from the Scuderia.

Finally, we bring you the latest updates regarding the engine that will power the Ferrari 2026. Just a few days ago, we reported that, according to Motorsport.com, the turbo V6 that will be at the heart of project 678 will feature an innovative approach focused on advanced materials. Reliability, however, will be a crucial concern. The fusion of different materials is designed to withstand higher stress levels and improve heat dissipation. Ferrari is not only chasing strong performance but also aiming for greater thermal efficiency, which would allow the bodywork openings to be closed more aggressively. The Italian team’s plan is to design very narrow sidepods thanks to more compact radiators. This would give the aerodynamics department led by Diego Tondi the opportunity to pursue better aerodynamic efficiency.
