The future of Esteban Ocon and Carlos Sainz in Formula 1 is intertwined. Both drivers, leaving Alpine and Ferrari, are looking for a seat for 2025. An endeavor that seemed simple, at least for the Spaniard, but is progressively turning into a real nightmare. With the doors of the top teams closed, the remaining choices are starting to lose patience.
The driver market for 2025 is in its hottest phase. While awaiting various official announcements, such as Andrea Kimi Antonelli in Mercedes and the reconfirmation of Sergio Perez at Red Bull (which arrived yesterday afternoon), drivers like Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon are still waiting to clarify their future. Few doors remain open: Stake (Audi), Williams, and Haas. And certainly, there is no lack of contenders.
The future of the Frenchman and the Spaniard seems to be linked. If Audi strongly targets the Spaniard, a potential shift towards Williams would prepare the way for the Alpine driver. However, the situation remains complicated: if the Ingolstadt team wants to aim for a third profile – such as Yuki Tsunoda – then even the doors of the Four Rings would bar the way for both.
“Is there a small chance he could be in contention for the Audi seat?” Craig Slater asks on Sky Sports News. “There is an offer on the table for Carlos Sainz, but he is undecided whether to accept this option or move to Williams. His choice could affect the seat at Audi or Williams itself. But I don’t think Esteban Ocon has an option at Williams.”
“Haas is currently the most likely possibility for Ocon to stay in Formula 1. He is one of many drivers in contention. The young Briton Oliver Bearman will almost certainly be driving the Haas next year, while Nico Hulkenberg has left the team heading towards Sauber and Audi.” – the Sky Sports reported pointed out.
