All of Charles Leclerc’s frustration came through during FP2 in Barcelona, with his Ferrari clearly struggling: “I have nothing to learn from this stint”
Free Practice 2 of the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix ended with mixed feelings for Ferrari, and on Friday in Barcelona, Charles Leclerc expressed all his frustration over the radio at the end of a race-pace simulation on medium tyres. The Monegasque, in communication with his engineer Bryan Bozzi, called the stint forgettable.
Track conditions and tyre behaviour appeared to put Charles Leclerc’s SF-25 in difficulty, to the point that the driver questioned the usefulness of the run itself. This feedback comes at a delicate moment for the Scuderia, which is looking for consistency after a series of ups and downs in recent weekends.
Charlea Leclerc’s team radio comments: grip and degradation problems in Barcelona
During his in-lap, Charlea Leclerc radioed Bozzi with his impressions of the just-completed stint: “Honestly I think at least from my side I have nothing to learn from this. From the first lap I had no grip anymore. I have no idea what was going on in this stint. I really had no idea.”
The Monegasque then added: “There were so many marbles on my tyres and then it was horrible from the first to the last corner of this stint. I was just nowhere.”
Charles Leclerc highlighted the lack of grip from the very first lap, reporting abnormal degradation and an excessive amount of marbles — small rubber debris — that compromised the car’s stability. This complicates the assessment of tyre behaviour ahead of Sunday’s race.
The Maranello team will now have to carefully analyse the collected data to determine whether this was an isolated issue or a worrying trend, especially given that tyre strategy will be crucial at the Montmeló circuit.
