A Ferrari that is not delivering
After finishing second in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari fans would never have imagined reaching the 2025 summer break with 14 races completed, zero wins and just one pole position. The Italian team still sits second and can boast being ahead of Mercedes and Red Bull, yet they have less than half of McLaren’s points (559 to 260).
In recent days, Gazzetta.it gathered several opinions on Ferrari’s first half of the 2025 Formula 1 season, and one of the most interesting came from Gian Carlo Minardi, who spent 20 years in Formula 1 with the team he founded. For the 77-year-old entrepreneur from Faenza, Ferrari is currently steering more in Charles Leclerc’s direction, indirectly penalising Lewis Hamilton. Minardi suggested that from various interviews, it seems Hamilton is unhappy about promises that were made to him but never fulfilled. He noted that it is difficult to pass judgment but added his own perspective.
Minardi defended Hamilton, stating that calling him a driver at the end of his career would be unfair. He stressed that only those inside Ferrari know exactly what is happening, and that the team must avoid a situation where Hamilton feels compelled to go elsewhere to prove he still has more to give. Certainly, having a teammate as fast as Leclerc has been in 2025 is not making Hamilton’s adaptation any easier.
