Watch the full video of the recovery vehicle clearing Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz’s stricken F1-75 at Suzuka in the first lap of the 2022 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix:
Carlos Sainz gets out of the car alone. No marshalls assist him. It is 50 seconds between the last car passing and him getting out.
There are single waved yellows displayed by the marshalls despite a driver still being in the car, and the driver then crossing a live race track.
We see the difference in neutralised and non neutralised cars. The frontrunners are slow because they’re behind the SC. Vettel, Zhou, and Latifi are significantly faster because they are catching the pack. Gasly is fast because he’s driving to the FIA’s delta time, he is so far back that he cannot see the pack.
The tractor is actively moving onto the track as the safety car comes through. The rear end is facing towards the oncoming cars.
