Twelve victories out of eighteen races which have taken place so far in the 2022 Formula 1 season and a world championship title won with four races to spare: Max Verstappen is experiencing a strong 2022 F1 campaign as the Dutchman himself underlined, defining the current year as “difficult to repeat”. Two out of three Sundays is for now the relationship between Max Verstappen’s victories and the rest of the starting grid, a championship ‘killed’ by the Red Bull man who has no intention of leaving anything to his opponents even in the four races than remain until the of the season, since “a car like this does not necessarily happen again because we will have to measure ourselves with what the competition will bring to the track”, added Max Verstappen.
The Red Bull driver has defined 2022 completely different to 2021 given the technical regulations were new and transformed the dynamics of the race weekend. “One year ago the pole position was essential to hope for the win, now it’s not like that anymore,” said Max Verstappen, who proved capable of winning from any position on the starting grid, including the 14th from which he started in Belgium, dominating the Spa weekend.
Faced with such a dominating season from Max Verstappen, the compliments via social media of the main rivals Ferrari and Mercedes were more than expected:
“Congratulations on your second title”, was the tweet from the Maranello team with a photo of the Dutch driver flanked by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the end of Saturday’s Qualifying which saw the Dutchman prevail over Charles Leclerc by just 10 thousandths. Virtually identical are the words chosen by Mercedes that accompanied the post with the photo of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton intent on exchanging compliments at the end of the Canadian Grand Prix a few months ago.
