Fred Vasseur calls for focus, precision, and flawless execution to give fans a memorable Italian Grand Prix
Ferrari arrives at Monza eager to bounce back after the double retirement at Zandvoort. Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur is rallying the Scuderia ahead of this crucial event, stressing the need for focus and flawless execution to make the most of the SF-25 on the high-speed straights of the Italian track, with the aim of achieving top results and rewarding the fans’ loyalty.
Monza is just around the corner
In Ferrari’s camp, the air is thick with anticipation, passion, and the thrill that only the Italian Grand Prix can deliver. This race is unlike any other: it carries a unique flavor, steeped in history, pride, and a fervor that can be felt in every corner of the circuit. This year, that feeling is combined with the desire for redemption after a forgettable weekend at Zandvoort, which ended with a double retirement that also affected the fight for second place in the constructors’ championship.
There is a strong desire to restart, to build on the podiums earned before the summer break, and the Italian GP—with grandstands full of red-clad fans—represents both an opportunity and a responsibility: to honor Ferrari’s colors and the passion of those who come to Monza to support the team.
Lessons from Zandvoort
Zandvoort remains a sore point and a bitter chapter from which, paradoxically, some lessons can be drawn. The Dutch track, with its long, undulating corners, was among the least suited to the SF-25’s characteristics, exposing its limitations. The clearest evidence came from a setup that proved inadequate from the start of the weekend, prompting a long night between Friday and Saturday to find the right direction.
However, while every track is different, those difficulties can provide valuable insights into the car’s setup, which could prove useful for the remainder of the season. But first, there is the Italian Grand Prix to honor.
Fred Vasseur’s motivation
Frédéric Vasseur knows this well and does not hide his excitement at returning in front of the home crowd: “As every year, we eagerly await the moment to take to the track at Monza. This year even more so, as we come from Zandvoort, where we did not achieve the results we hoped for, despite showing we had the pace to do well,” explained Ferrari’s Team Principal, highlighting the progress made over the weekend after a difficult Friday.
The call of the Italian fans is an energy that can be felt even in the days leading up to the race, with events dedicated to Ferrari that bring the team closer to the supporters—a warmth that will then flood the Monza grandstands: “Being surrounded by the passion of our fans is an extraordinary motivation for the entire team, pushing us to put our soul into everything we do. We want to give our best to repay their constant support. However, to achieve that, we must put emotions aside and focus on executing the weekend perfectly, from the first lap of practice to the last lap of Sunday’s race.”
SF-25 ready for Monza
The post-summer restart did not yield the desired results, but Fred Vasseur emphasized the progress made in recent months, knowing that flawless execution will be essential to reach the Monza podium. The SF-25, which has made aerodynamic efficiency one of its strongest assets this season, should perform better on the long straights and fast corners of the Italian track, far more than it did at Zandvoort.
“Throughout the season, we have made progress in competitiveness, but with a group of rivals so close in performance, we must be flawless to achieve the results we aim for. We will give everything we have, knowing we can count on the love and support of our fans,” concluded Fred Vasseur.
