Ferrari has officially confirmed the appointment of Frederic Vasseur as its new Formula 1 team principal, with the Frenchman who will therefore replace Mattia Binotto starting with January 2023.
Fred Vasseur will step into the shoes of Mattia Binotto, after the Italian manager handed in his resignation from role as head of the Ferrari Formula 1 Racing Division a few weeks ago. The former Alfa Romeo boss will begin his official role as Ferrari team principal and general manager on January 9.
“I am truly delighted and honoured to take over the leadership of Scuderia Ferrari as team principal,” said Fred Vasseur, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website – “As someone who has always held a lifelong passion for motorsport, Ferrari has always represented the very pinnacle of the racing world to me. I look forward to working with the talented and truly passionate team in Maranello to honour the history and heritage of the Scuderia and deliver for our Tifosi around the world.” – he added.
Frederic Vasseur’s arrival as Ferrari team principal is part of the Maranello team’s attempt to finally put an end to its Formula 1 title drought, which dates back to 2008, after the Italian side was not able to build on its solid start to the 2022 F1 season and lost the duel to Red Bull early on in the championship.
