With the announcement of Frederic Vasseur’s contract renewal, made public on the morning of Thursday, July 31, clarity has finally returned regarding the future of Scuderia Ferrari’s leadership. The French team principal had a contract that was due to expire at the end of the 2025 Formula 1 season, a situation that had generated growing speculation in recent months. The fact that the renewal had not been confirmed well into July had led to increasing uncertainty about whether the collaboration between Vasseur and the Italian team would continue.
Now that the multi-year extension has been signed, Frederic Vasseur is set to carry on the work he began during the 2023 Formula 1 season. Under his guidance, Ferrari secured second place in the Constructors’ Championship last year and celebrated a total of six Grand Prix victories during his tenure. However, as is well known in the world of Formula 1, achieving long-term success requires patience, strategic continuity, and a consistent development path. These are precisely the reasons why the senior management at Ferrari, led by CEO Benedetto Vigna and Chairman John Elkann, decided to renew their trust in Vasseur and keep him at the helm of the Maranello-based team.
The Frenchman from Draveil will now have the opportunity to continue shaping the team with a long-term vision and further consolidate the foundations he has laid over the past two and a half seasons. The clear message from the Ferrari leadership is that long-term stability and consistency are key to achieving their ultimate objective: a return to winning championships in Formula 1.
Fred Vasseur’s Words
“I am grateful for the trust that Ferrari continues to place in me,” said Frederic Vasseur following the announcement of his contract renewal. “This renewal is not just a confirmation of our current path, but a challenge to continue improving, to stay focused, and to honor our commitments. Over the past 30 months, we have laid strong and solid foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination.”
Fred Vasseur went on to underline the weight of responsibility that comes with leading Ferrari in Formula 1: “We know what is expected from us, and we are all fully committed to meeting those expectations. Our goal is clear, and we are determined to take the next step forward together as a team.”
The timing of this renewal, right before the summer break and ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, sends a clear signal: Ferrari intends to maintain its direction, building momentum with Vasseur at the center of its technical and strategic evolution.
