The last days of activity in 2022 are are just as intense as the last few weeks at the Maranello Racing Division. The beginning of the week was marked by the presence in the Ferrari Racing Department of Frederic Vasseur and the end of Mattia Binotto’s activity: yesterday the Italian manager spent his last day in the Maranello headquarters concluding, as per the agreements made with the top management, the ‘transfer of power’. For Mattia Binotto it is a farewell that comes after 27 years of collaboration, four of which as team principal and three as technical director.
On the other hand, Monday and Tuesday were Fred Vasseur’s first two days of operations, and he began to have a first contact with the Ferrari Gestione Sportiva. The new team principal met with the senior management of the company, and was guided on his first ‘tour’ within the Racing Department by Laurent Mekies. Frederic Vasseur should be working from Maranello starting from January 9th.
Chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna will also be very involved in the Scuderia’s activity: after spending his first year at the helm of Ferrari, he seems willing to increase his interest in the Scuderia’s activities as well. The CEO will be Fred Vasseur’s direct contact, and everything points to his greater involvement in the company’s sporting sector, both in terms of Hypercar and Formula 1.
The change of team principal was a decision that involved Benedetto Vigna personally, and it is clear that we should expect his greater involvement and participation in the activity of the Formula One team.
