With just a few days before the start of the winter pre-season testing sessions, which is scheduled to take place at the Bahrain International Circuit from Thursday to Saturday, new Scuderia Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur warns his staff and the rest of the Formula 1 teams: if any team encounters a big problem during the three-day testing session in Sakhir, the first Grand Prix of the season, which takes place in Bahrain just one week after the winter test, will be very demanding.
The Frenchman recalls what happened to McLaren last year. During the tests they encountered problems with the brakes and as a result they faced many difficulties in the first race of the 2022 Formula 1 campaign.
The new Ferrari boss explained in a recent interview for German automobile magazine ‘Auto Motor und Sport’: “Pre-season testing is where we all enter new territory, although this time we get to know the cars better. Of course, if someone has a big problem in testing, like McLaren did last year, they won’t be able to fix it before the Bahrain Grand Prix.” – the French manager pointed out.
Frederic Vasseur is ready to begin his first season alongside the Maranello team, after having covered the same role in the Sauber group for six years.

“I already have a pretty clear idea of how to make this team work. The DNA is the same in all of them, it has nothing to do with the size of each team. What is different from Sauber are the expectations. In Bahrain, I will experience how the team works on the track, I will probably never finish learning” – he explained.
