The incident involving Carlos Sainz in the first free practice session last weekend in Las Vegas heated discussions among team principals and other staff members, with Frederic Vasseur using strong language, labeling what happened as “unacceptable,” while Toto Wolff staunchly defended the organization of the event. However, the FIA did not appreciate the language used by the two, summoning them to appear before the stewards in Abu Dhabi.
“The stewards of the Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023, having received a report from the FIA Media Delegate regarding the use of certain language during the FIA Press Conference in Las Vegas on November 16, given the impossibility of holding a hearing last Sunday morning, have delegated their authority to the Sports Commissioners of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023.”
“As a result, the stewards of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023 request the Team Principal of the Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes to participate in a hearing in the Stewards Room, Yas Marina Circuit, at 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 23, 2023.”
Finally, the statement adds: “The purpose of the hearing will be to determine whether there is a violation of Article 12.2.1.f of the International Sporting Code of the FIA and, if so, what actions to take.”

It is curious that the two main figures of the teams fighting for second place in the constructors’ championship will be called to justify the strong language used in the verbal exchange that took place after Carlos Sainz’s incident in Las Vegas.
