Frederic Vasseur has spoken about what the goal for Ferrari should be on ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix weekend.
The Miami Grand Prix will be a very special weekend for Ferrari, as Frederic Vasseur also explained. The Scuderia will sport a blue livery for the occasion, marking the debut of the new title sponsor HP.
Additionally, with the return of the Sprint Race format at the first of the three US races on the calendar, Ferrari, which seemed uncomfortable with the altered work schedule in China—especially in the qualifying session —faces a significant test in Miami.
“We are revisiting the Sprint format which gave us some trouble in Shanghai,” Fred Vasseur stated in the official Ferrari preview – “Certainly, the circuit is very different and we can compare data with the last two seasons. As a team, we expect to perform better than in China and believe we have the potential to be competitive.”
The Sprint format includes only one free practice session, which teams will try to maximize. “It will be crucial to make good use of the sixty minutes available,” added the Ferrari Team Principal. “Lately, we have struggled a bit in qualifying and we will need to be clever in working on this aspect.”
Finally, the former head of Alfa Romeo commented on the addition of HP to the team. “We will see the debut of the new sponsor and we hope to kick off this partnership with a good result,” concluded Fred Vasseur ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
