Champagne and bubbles: in Monte Carlo, the podium turns Ferrari red for a homegrown hero, Charles Leclerc. Team principal Fred Vasseur praised Charles Leclerc and the entire team for a Monaco performance that could mean so much.
The crowd went wild, the band played the national Monaco anthem and Italian anthem. On the top step of the podium was the local favorite, Charles Leclerc, who burst into tears of joy at the end of the race. Praise and ambitions were also at the heart of Fred Vasseur’s statements to Sky microphones after the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
Fred Vasseur analyzes the Monaco Grand Prix: praise for the team
The 2024 Formula 1 race in Monaco was much kinder to Charles compared to past editions: “This time he was in form right from the first lap in FP1. He did a perfect job, even though the race was strange. After the Red Flag, we had to manage the race with just one set of tires. Charles asked us a couple of times for permission to push, it was really difficult to manage so much.” – the French manager pointed out.
“It was really a fantastic race,” the Frenchman continues. Then, a special thanks to the team player Carlos Sainz: “We must also thank Carlos, we had to manage positions behind to create a gap. He also did a fantastic job for the team.” – the Ferrari team boss pointed out.
The victory was an achievable goal right from the start of the weekend. Now Ferrari is clearly growing, and Fred Vasseur calls for even greater focus as we reach the next part of the 2024 Formula 1 championship: “From the beginning of the weekend we were on it, I think we are pushing to the maximum in the right direction. We are certainly not world champions, so we must remain calm, but the direction is the right one,” he explains, praising the entire Maranello team from those on the track to those in Maranello.
“From the first lap in practice, we had the feeling we could win. Charles always had a huge pace and did well to recover after the bag incident in Q1. Carlos also did a great job, allowing us to manage the race much better.” – he added.
Ferrari closes in on Red Bull, but Fred Vasseur preaches calm
The Prancing Horse significantly reduced the gap from the top in both championships in Monaco. But Frederic Vasseur’s response is clear: “I don’t care!” he says, smiling. “There are still many races left, I don’t want to know at the moment. The important thing is to try to do an even better job next week with the same motivation to keep pushing. We shouldn’t think too much about the championship right now.” – the Ferrari team principal concluded at the end of the Monaco Grand Prix.
