Ferrari’s team principal emphasizes the group
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has always been somewhat lukewarm about the prospect of bringing Adrian Newey into the Maranello team: “The group comes before individuals” and “1+1 doesn’t always make 2” are some of his statements that do not align with rolling out the red carpet for the possible arrival of the aerodynamics genius, for whom Aston Martin currently seems to be in pole position.
Ferrari’s team principal reiterated this position in his latest exclusive interview with the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera. When asked about the hypothetical state of an Adrian Newey revolution, Frederic Vasseur responded: “I’ve always said that the group comes first. This applies to engineers, drivers, and everyone else. It’s not the sum of talents that generates performance, but the right combination of factors. PSG has always taken the best players, yet they have never won the Champions League. We, on the other hand, are on the right track.”

Before the summer break, Frederic Vasseur mentioned in an interview that Ferrari would finalize the new technical organization in September, a natural adjustment following the departure of technical director and Italian aerodynamicist Enrico Cardile, who accepted Aston Martin’s offer to become the team’s chief technical officer. For the Italian side, the adjustment will not involve a change in the organizational structure. When asked if the technical structure would change, Frederic Vasseur replied, “No.” He added, “The new technical director will come from outside and we should announce it after Monza.” – the French manager pointed out.
