These are truly delicate and complex hours that the Emilia-Romagna region is experiencing due to the bad weather that has been plaguing the area for days, and which, at the moment, seems to show no respite for both the citizens and the rescue teams working to help the affected population. This situation has inevitably had an impact on the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix which was scheduled to take place this weekend at the Imola circuit.
It should be noted that yesterday, some issues were already encountered involving the teams present at the racetrack for the preparations of the weekend. In fact, in the afternoon, all personnel were evacuated as a precautionary measure due to the exceeding of safety limits of the nearby Santerno river. The water level has not decreased today either, leading the organizers to prohibit all personnel from entering the paddock.
These conditions have inevitably led to reflections and meetings among promoters, institutions, and organizers to discuss the possible continuation of the race weekend (taking into account the involvement of medical and security personnel). These discussions ultimately resulted in the decision, justified and at times unavoidable, to cancel the Grand Prix in order to prioritize the rescue efforts for the population and to avoid burdening a territory already devastated, with nearly 200,000 people expected to attend.
In just a few minutes, this decision garnered the support of all professionals, teams, and drivers who, among other things, did not miss the opportunity to show solidarity with Emilia-Romagna and its entire population, while still hopeful of being able to reschedule the race in Italy. Naturally, given its history and location, Scuderia Ferrari also decided to comment on the decision through a press release on its social channels.
First and foremost, the Maranello team expressed full support for the decision made by the FIA and Formula One to cancel the event, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing assistance to the affected population.

“Scuderia Ferrari fully supports the decision of Formula 1 and the FIA to cancel the scheduled Imola Grand Prix. Although it is one of our home races and therefore even more important, the priority at this moment can only be the safety of all the people living and working in the areas affected by the bad weather.”
Furthermore, the Maranello’s team principal, Frédéric Vasseur, also wanted to send thoughts and a message of solidarity to all those affected by the tragedy gripping the region, expressing deep sorrow at seeing the homeland of Ferrari going through such difficult hours and days.
“On behalf of the entire Scuderia Ferrari, I want to express our support to those affected by this terrible tragedy. Emilia-Romagna is our homeland, and it breaks our hearts to see what people have to face in these difficult hours.”
