Fred Vasseur rallies the team ahead of the SF-26 debut
Ferrari have unveiled the new SF-26, and Frédéric Vasseur is keeping the team focused and united ahead of its Formula 1 debut: “We are more united than ever.” At Fiorano, the first laps of Maranello’s car for the new technical cycle were completed. A clean, brighter livery with plenty of white and subtle black accents makes the car look aggressive and, in the eyes of the fans, already ready to compete with the top teams on the grid.
On a cold and foggy morning at Fiorano, a flash of red appeared: the new Ferrari SF-26 is finally reality. The Prancing Horse single-seater completed its first laps, first under Lewis Hamilton and then under Charles Leclerc. This initial shakedown is crucial for a preliminary assessment of the winter development work. Of course, any real judgment will have to wait until the Barcelona tests and then Bahrain.
Vasseur: “A new cycle begins today”
Coinciding with the SF-26’s first laps on track, Frédéric Vasseur made his first official comments: “The SF-26 marks the beginning of a new cycle for Formula 1 and for Ferrari, which this year introduces new rules for the chassis, power unit, fuels, and tyres, all with different characteristics.”
“This car is the result of great teamwork and represents the start of a completely new journey, built on different regulations where all competitors must face numerous unknowns. The team is aligned and more united than ever as we approach the season ahead. From next week in Barcelona, we will begin the work of understanding and validating the car.”
“In this initial phase, the priority will be to learn as much as possible and start building solid foundations on which to plan the work ahead of the season,” concluded Ferrari’s team principal.
