The Ferrari team principal is keeping expectations under control ahead of the Qatar weekend, but Frédéric Vasseur is convinced that the Maranello squad has all the motivation it needs to end the season in the best possible way.
The Qatar Grand Prix is the second round of the triple-header that closes the 2026 Formula 1 calendar. The Prancing Horse arrives in Lusail determined to erase the memory of the night race in Nevada, which ended with Charles Leclerc finishing fourth and Lewis Hamilton eighth — a result boosted only thanks to the double disqualification of the McLaren cars.
Ferrari boss Frédéric Vasseur is eager to turn the page.
“After a challenging weekend in Las Vegas, we arrive in Qatar fully focused and excited to get back on track. Lusail is a very different circuit, with high-speed corners that test both the car and the driver, while the new lap-limit introduced by Pirelli adds an extra strategic element.”
The Frenchman avoids bold predictions. Ferrari’s target is to climb the Constructors’ Championship standings, where the team currently sits fourth behind McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull.
Fred Vasseur hopes that Ferrari’s engineers in Maranello have delivered strong simulation work for the SF-25, especially because the Sprint format offers just a single free-practice session to finalize the setup: “We are focused on ourselves and on seizing every opportunity that the final Sprint weekend of the season will offer us. Motivation is at its highest and we are determined to finish the season in the best way possible.” – the French manager concluded ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend which is set to take place at the 5.4-kilometre Lusail International Circuit, located just outside the city of Lusail, north of Doha
