Ferrari, a second place without regrets
The Prancing Horse concluded its 2024 Formula One season with a third place in the drivers’ standings—courtesy of Charles Leclerc—and a second in the constructors’. However, these are two defeats that are more positive than negative, as emphasized several times by team principal Frederic Vasseur, who repeatedly praised his team’s ability to react throughout the championship.
Hope for 2025
Never before has Ferrari ended a Formula 1 season with such a tangible hope of fighting for the championships the following year. There isn’t a dominant team at the moment, and the prospect of an open battle among multiple teams—as seen in the second half of 2024—is far from unrealistic.
In an interview given in Abu Dhabi to the Italian daily newspaper *La Stampa*, Frederic Vasseur spoke about the ‘677 project’, which is the codename for the 2025 car in the factory: “On paper, it’s very good, but in Formula 1, everything is relative—doing well doesn’t necessarily mean being ahead of others. We know we have very strong rivals like Red Bull and McLaren. Every morning, we work on the data from the previous evening. We want to extract the maximum from the start, as we’ll need to focus on 2026 and the new regulations fairly early.” – the French manager pointed out.
He also commented on Loic Serra, the technical director for the chassis: “His integration is progressing fantastically, as is that of my deputy Jerome D’Ambrosio, whom I’ve known since the Formula Renault days. They will be part of the improvement; the dynamic is very positive.” – Fred Vasseur concluded.
