Charles Leclerc is experiencing one of his best seasons in Formula 1, even though the results do not fully reflect the value of his work. The Monegasque has repeatedly pushed the car to its limits, extracting every bit of performance, only to settle for third place. With McLaren’s dominance and the limitations of the SF-25, a victory this season seems like a distant dream, and even the driver himself has started to show signs of strain, at times losing his smile and motivation in front of the cameras.
Despite this, Frederic Vasseur has emphasized that the bond between Charles Leclerc and Ferrari remains very strong, and the driver has often reiterated his desire to stay at Maranello. “The relationship between Charles and the team is very positive, but with the media if you show yourself as too critical, you are at the center of discussions for a week,” said the team principal on Beyond The Grid.
One positive aspect Charles Leclerc can take away from 2025 is having challenged a seven-time world champion. At the start of the season, many thought the British driver would struggle with the change, as well as the fact that the Monegasque was more integrated into the team, but no one expected such a heavy 12-2 score in the internal battle. For Frederic Vasseur, however, this renewed attitude from car number 16 is also the result of Hamilton’s arrival: “Charles has less pressure on his shoulders since Lewis came. He had a beautiful start to the year, and now he is still maturing in his approach. I do not know if this is still Lewis Hamilton’s influence or his own improvement.”
