A life-size Ferrari replica built entirely from papier-mâché and recycled materials will be displayed in Piazza Duomo during the 2026 Italian Grand Prix weekend, bringing a powerful message of inclusion to the heart of Monza. Named Formula Aut, the car was created by members of Facciavista, a non-profit association that brings together people on the autism spectrum.
Every edition of the Monza Grand Prix is surrounded by dozens of meetings, concerts and dinners designed to bring Formula 1 fans together. This year, however, the programme will feature an especially meaningful attraction: a full-size Ferrari made by hand and designed to highlight creativity, sustainability and the value of every individual’s talent.
Formula Aut Ferrari combines inclusion and recycled materials
The Formula Aut Ferrari is constructed from recycled materials both inside and out. Its internal structure uses reclaimed components, while the red livery was created from discarded advertising boards.
The young members of Facciavista are responsible for the project. Following the success of their previous collection, which focused on wild animals, the group began creating a faithful, full-size replica of Ferrari’s 2024 Formula 1 car, reproducing its design and proportions.
The first stage involved separating the discarded advertising boards according to colour. The pieces were then cut and glued onto wooden panels. Every element was designed, studied and developed inside the association’s small workshop in Seregno.
Formula Aut’s journey from Seregno to Monza
The Formula Aut project began in January this year and will make its public debut in the coming weeks, when it is due to be celebrated across several towns in the Brianza area.
This weekend, the car is scheduled to be escorted by the Carabinieri through the streets of Seregno before returning to the “workshop” for its final refinements. At the beginning of the Italian Grand Prix week, it will be presented at an Automobile Club d’Italia dinner in Milan before being placed on display in front of Monza Cathedral.
Facciavista: “The most beautiful race has already begun”
“Here, every day, the hands, sensitivity and talent of autistic young people turn a dream into reality, bringing to life an extraordinary project in which art and inclusion travel at the same speed as passion. Because there are races that are not won with stopwatches, but with the ability to imagine, create and prove that every talent deserves to be seen and valued. And in Monza, the most beautiful race has already begun,” Facciavista explained on its website.

“The idea is to create an open, accessible and shared space: a place where people can stop, take photographs, discover the story behind the project and learn about the work of the young people.”
The ultimate goal is for Formula Aut to reach the Temple of Speed itself and stand close to real Formula 1 cars. For the members of the group, that opportunity would be invaluable because, as the association put it, “this car will not set the fastest lap, but it could leave the most important mark.”
