Malaysian Formula 1 fans will be able to attend the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang with special three-day tickets starting from just 200 ringgit, after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a discounted scheme for MyKad holders. The initiative provides a clearer picture of local access to Formula 1’s unusual return to Malaysia, after the original ticket sales page appeared online before being quickly removed.
The event, officially named the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, will take place at the Sepang International Circuit. It will offer access across all three days of the weekend, with a combination of covered grandstands and open-air viewing areas designed for both Malaysian and international spectators. Formula 1’s return to the venue comes through the exceptional relocation of the Bahrain Grand Prix, with the 2026 Bahrain GP officially scheduled to take place at Sepang.
Anwar Ibrahim announces RM200 Bahrain GP tickets for Malaysians
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced special Madani tickets for MyKad holders, with prices starting at 200 ringgit, equivalent to approximately $49. The measure is intended to make Formula 1’s return to Sepang accessible to a greater number of Malaysian citizens.
In a Facebook post, Anwar Ibrahim said: “Following discussions and an agreement with Bahrain, the government is pleased to announce special Madani tickets for MyKad holders, starting from just 200 ringgit for access during all three days of the event.”
The Malaysian prime minister stressed that the aim is to broaden opportunities for local fans to experience Formula 1 directly. “We hope this initiative gives more Malaysians the opportunity to experience F1 in person at Sepang,” Anwar Ibrahim added.
The special Madani tickets were agreed in collaboration with the Bahraini authorities, with Bahrain acting as the organiser of the Grand Prix. Earlier information had already indicated Malaysian ticket prices ranging from 200 ringgit for the G Hillstand to more than 2,000 ringgit, approximately $490, for the Main Grandstand.
The latest announcement therefore confirms and strengthens the discounted access available to holders of Malaysia’s national identity card. Further details covering purchasing procedures and ticket availability are expected to be communicated soon by the Sepang International Circuit. The announcement follows earlier uncertainty after the initial 2026 Bahrain GP ticket prices appeared online before the sales page disappeared.

Formula 1 prepares for its return to Sepang
The ticket arrangements provide another important piece of the preparation surrounding Formula 1’s return to Malaysia. Sepang will host the Bahrain Grand Prix rather than a conventional Malaysian Grand Prix, creating one of the most unusual events on the 2026 calendar.
