Methodology: Grand Prix starts, points, constructor breakdowns and season summaries are calculated from locally processed F1DB race and Sprint results. Points use the same race-result definition across career, Ferrari, constructor and season views so the totals reconcile. Official season championship points are retained separately and noted where historical dropped-score rules create a difference. Career wins, podiums, poles and fastest laps use F1DB driver-level totals where available.

He subsequently joined Osella, where he spent two seasons before moving through Ligier and Modena.

Nicola Larini joins Ferrari in 1992

He replaced Ivan Capelli for the Japanese and Australian Grands Prix, making two official starts for the Scuderia.

Nicola Larini’s first Ferrari starts

Larini did not score points during his two Ferrari appearances in 1992, but the races established the first chapter of a relationship that would later produce his only Formula 1 podium.

His role with Ferrari also extended beyond race weekends through extensive testing work during the early 1990s.

He raced at the Pacific Grand Prix and the San Marino Grand Prix, again partnering Gerhard Berger.

He finished second for Ferrari and scored six championship points, securing both his first and only Formula 1 podium finish.

Nicola Larini Ferrari F1 statistics

Larini made four official Grand Prix starts for Ferrari: two in 1992 and two in 1994.

His completed Ferrari record consists of no victories, one podium finish, no pole positions, no fastest laps and six points.

Nicola Larini’s only Formula 1 podium

Larini’s second place at Imola accounts for the only podium finish in his complete Formula 1 record.

Ferrari therefore produced six of the seven championship points he accumulated during his career.

Nicola Larini after Ferrari

Larini later returned to Formula 1 competition with Sauber during the 1997 season.

He scored one additional championship point, bringing his final career total to seven.

Why Nicola Larini has 75 entries but 49 starts

Larini’s record contains a substantial difference between World Championship entries and official starts because several of his early Formula 1 seasons included unsuccessful qualifying attempts.

The Driver Records database therefore counts 49 official race starts rather than treating all 75 entries as Grands Prix started.
