The 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix will take place without any risk, despite the ongoing protests. This is what Formula 1 has decided.
In the last few days, several concerns emerged online according to which the race in Sao Paulo, that will take place on November 13 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, was in danger of being canceled due to the ongoing protests.
The victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the presidential elections against the former president Jair Bolsonaro led the latter’s far-right supporters to take to the streets, blocking roads across the country.
The situation was in danger of escalating when several Ferrari trucks which were heading for Interlagos were stuck in the traffic of Sao Paulo, with images that appeared showing the demonstrators occupying the streets, and consequently blocking the circulation. The protests forced the authorities to briefly close the city airport.
Over 300 federal highways were partially or fully blocked at one point, according to the police. As of Tuesday morning, some 289 protests continued to block the free circulation of traffic, down from a maximum of 342, O Estado de S. Paulo reported.

The situation improved yesterday when, according to The Guardian, Bolsonaro announced that he would accept defeat in the elections.
FIA: No threat to the race in Brazil
A Formula 1 spokesperson revealed that the various speculation which surfaced online was unfounded and confirmed that the Brazilian Grand Prix will take place as planned.
The spokesperson also confirmed that F1 and the FIA governing body have followed their usual safety protocols and are working closely with the promoter and local authorities to ensure that the sporting event takes place in the best of way possible.
Formula 1 therefore does not see any threat for the penultimate race of the 2022 season.
Last year, Lewis Hamilton won the Sao Paulo Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen.
