Monza opened its doors on September 3 1922, just a week before it hosted that year’s Italian Grand Prix. It was then part of the original Formula 1 calendar in 1950, and has held the Italian Grand Prix every year bar one since.
There’s a reason the Italian Grand Prix is one of two races to be held in every Formula 1 season: Monza truly is the temple of
speed. This historic Italian circuit is built for high-octane racing. Average lap speeds can reach a monumental 264km/h, with
teams setting their cars up for high power and low downforce. It’s never short of drama, either.
