Formula 1 has confirmed that it will continue supporting the F1 Academy next season, once again providing liveries and sponsorships for the drivers competing under Susie Wolff’s leadership. At the same time, the category is preparing for several important updates set to arrive in 2027.
It is a significant and long-term agreement: Formula 1 announced that every one of the ten F1 teams will keep supplying a dedicated livery for one driver each, strengthening the visibility of the all-female championship. The renewed partnership will remain valid for multiple years, creating the foundations for a stable and lasting collaboration.
This expanded commitment underscores the sport’s determination to increase female participation in motorsport, both on and off the racetrack. The program’s long-term goal remains to help talented young women progress through the junior categories, ultimately working toward securing seats in Formula 4.
But the updates do not stop there. Starting in 2027, Cadillac will also join the series as an additional supporter. Furthermore, the sporting regulations will evolve. From 2027 onward, drivers who have competed in the two previous seasons may receive an exemption allowing them to race for a third year, in line with the revised rulebook.
This new rule reflects a targeted approach designed to help develop emerging talent. The exemption will apply only to drivers who demonstrate strong potential for ongoing progression and competitive growth.
The announcement comes at a time of major global expansion for the F1 Academy. The championship’s races are now broadcast in more than 170 territories worldwide; the Netflix docuseries F1: The Academy, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine, continues to grow in popularity; and the series’ combined social media fanbase has reached 1.38 million followers across Instagram, YouTube, X, and TikTok.
Susie Wolff, managing director of the F1 Academy, stated:
“The long-term support from all ten current Formula 1 teams, together with Cadillac joining our grid from 2027, sends a powerful message about the future of F1 Academy. We are not only creating a platform for today’s generation of female drivers; together, we are building a pathway to support the generations of talent still to come.”
