The renowned neon lights of Las Vegas will provide the backdrop to the newest Formula 1 event, as the Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place for the first time on a Saturday in November 2023, joining the Miami and Austin events for a total of three races in the United States.
The previous F1 events in Las Vegas took place four decades ago, but 2023 will be the first time Formula 1 cars get the chance to race on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, with the track sweeping past the well-known hotels and casinos.
At the same time, a Formula 1 “experience” is planned to appear near the Las Vegas Strip as a new tourist attraction, a Clark County official recently confirmed.
The experience is set to come at the site of the pits and paddocks off Koval Lane and Harmon Avenue, as the organizers named by Formula 1 have bought 39 acres to use for various activities and facilities.
“Formula One has determined to make a full time commitment here. The area that will be the pits during the race will actually be a Formula One experience during the other 11 months of the year,” explained Chair Jim Gibson of the Clark County Commission, a member of the Democratic Party, who also sits on the LVCVA Board.
Formula 1 enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for this special event, as the experience area will make the race weekend even more thrilling, with entertaining activities such as racing simulators, merchandise stores, interactive experiences, museums, go kart racing, and a bar to exclusively watch F1 events.
“We are about 8 weeks away from having plans finalized at this point. I would be more than happy to share things with you once we’ve confirmed everything within that space,” said Dennis LaFontaine, the Vice President of Marketing and PR for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
The highly-anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix will definitely bring hundreds of thousands of people to the Entertainment Capital of the World. “That will do an awful lot to open up international travel all by itself. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to showcase what’s in Las Vegas. But it’s also a lot of work to make sure that the asphalt is what is required in those areas, the infrastructure work has been done,” he concluded.
Formula 1 and Liberty Media will work together to promote the race in partnership with Live Nation Entertainment and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).
