The Circuit of the Americas has recently confirmed that a new infield grandstand is currently being built and will be available for the 2022 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place in October and will be the tenth event to be held at the 5.514-kilometre motor racing track located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Austin, Texas.
A few years ago, Formula 1 was still less popular in the United States and organizers were forced to rely on personalities such as Taylor Swift to get more fans at the track, but things have changed recently, also thanks to Netflix’ Drive to Survive documentary series, which provides viewers exclusive, intimate access to the people in one of the world’s greatest racing competitions.
In 2021, the United States Grand Prix saw more than 400,000 fans pass through the turnstiles, figures that surpassed the Mexican Grand Prix (371,000) and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone (356,000). As a result, the organizers are confident even more fans will attend this year’s Formula 1 event in two months’ time, the tenth USA GP to take place at the Circuit of the Americas and a brand-new grandstand is planned at the infield of the racing track.
Situation just after the esses of Corners 3-5, the new grandstand will provide fans with a great head-on view of the Formula 1 challengers, just before they move uphill through Turns 6-8. This new grandstand will represent some of the nearest-to-the-action views, but at the same time it will be a chance to enjoy many moments of the track action from one place, as the grandstand builds upon COTA’s unique and purpose-built design, that allows some guests to see as many as 8 turns from one seat.
“After years of ambition, this incredible location, something we’ve always hoped to add, is finally a reality,” explained Bobby Epstein, a Founding Partner at Circuit of The Americas – “It is one of several new fan-focused improvements, along with a new five lane road, 200 more front gate buses, 5 new shade tents, and a new ‘quick serve’ menu. This grandstand allows us to open an entirely new part of the campus to programming and enhanced offerings.” – the Circuit of the Americas Chairman continued.

Located in the middle of the Circuit of the Americas, the new infield grandstand will be become a central area with premier proximity to all of the Formula 1 event and other track acitivies during the weekend as well as other experiences including curated food, entertainment and official F1 merchandise.
