An even more glamorous F1 Circus
During his years leading Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali has shown how the F1 Circus is constantly searching for new ideas and innovative solutions — especially from a commercial and marketing perspective — in order to attract a new audience and place the sport at the center of worldwide attention.
According to information reported by Sports Business Journal, Formula 1 is currently studying the possibility of organizing a new large-scale pre-season show to officially launch the 2027 championship, similar to what happened in February 2025 in London. On that occasion, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the sport, all the teams gathered at the O2 Arena in London to unveil their respective liveries in front of fans and media from around the world.
Milan versus Paris?
The event proved to be a major success, both with the live audience in the British capital and in terms of television ratings and social media engagement. Sports Business Journal reported that five people familiar with the matter stated that Formula 1 is seriously evaluating the possibility of organizing another season-opening event ahead of the 2027 campaign.
The detail that could particularly excite Italian fans is that Milan is reportedly included on the shortlist of potential host cities and is said to be considered one of the leading options. At the moment, however, everything remains at the speculation stage and no final decision has been made. The American outlet also noted that Formula 1 declined to comment on these rumors.
Another city being considered as a possible venue for the event is Paris. According to the rumors, however, the structure and overall format of the show could be different compared to the 2025 edition held in London.
It is also worth remembering that Milan has already become increasingly familiar with Formula 1-related events in recent years. In 2025, the city hosted Ferrari’s pre-season show, which included Lewis Hamilton’s ‘presentation’ to the Italian public following his arrival at the Maranello-based team. Milan has also regularly hosted the public celebration event organized by Ferrari ahead of the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza.
The potential expansion of Formula 1’s pre-season events suggests a strategic move toward lifestyle-driven marketing, with Milan and Paris positioned as top contenders to host a revamped 2027 season launch. This shift highlights the sport’s ongoing evolution from traditional testing to global entertainment spectacles designed to maximize engagement before the first lights go out.
