The FIA has confirmed the zones where it will be possible to use the Drag Reduction System (DRS) in the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship, which takes place next weekend at the Hungaroring.
After the victory secured by Red Bull and Max Verstappen at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet and the disappointing outcome for Scuderia Ferrari, who finished fifth with Carlos Sainz, after Charles Leclerc was forced to retire due to a crash on lap 18, teams and drivers will return to battle at the Hungaroring, often the scene of exciting races full of surprises.
The race commission, for the weekend, has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned on the main straight of the Hungarian circuit and in the straight leading from turns 1 to 2. The zones will have only one activation point that will be located before the last corner, that is 14.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free sessions lasting one hour on Friday (14.00 and 17.00 local time) and FP3 on Saturday morning (13.00). These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to get ready and focus on the set-up in view of qualifying, scheduled for the same day at 16.00. Green light on Sunday afternoon at 3.00 pm. The race can will be the last one before the traditional summer break, with the Belgian Grand Prix scheduled for August 28.
