Ferrari becomes eco-sustainable: a new photovoltaic system will be implemented in the Maranello factory in collaboration with Enel X.
It is a further step towards carbon neutrality that Ferrari is taking alongside Enel. Overall, the new photovoltaic system devised will allow Ferrari to self-produce 1,626,802 kWh per year. The plant will save over 18,500 tons of CO2 in 25 years, therefore about 740 tons per year. Ferrari will increase self-production from renewable sources at the Maranello plant and will increase the power of its solar energy plants by 200%, which last year even delivered 3 TJ of energy. An example of an off-grid system for energy production was also created with Enel X, designed for the specific charging needs of the Ferrari hybrid range.
The project designed for Ferrari is made up of four different plant sections, with construction of the first already underway on the roof of one of the buildings at the headquarters.
“Together with Enel X and our other partners, we are developing new solutions that will contribute significantly to reducing CO2e emissions – said Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari – The challenge of becoming a carbon neutral company by 2030 is a further stimulus for Ferrari to innovate in every area, taking a scientific, holistic approach to the sources of emissions: from the cars in use, to our supply chain, and our production activities.”
