Ferrari, a 2023 to Build Upon
Clearly, Ferrari had approached 2023 with the hope of competing for the world title, but the first contact with the track was decisive for all Red Bull rivals: Adrian Newey with the RB19 had created a masterpiece of a car. Frederic Vasseur found himself having to regroup, aware of having the fastest car in history against him, capable of breaking record after record.
However, the Scuderia can build on what was seen in this championship, where they seized the only flaw of Red Bull in Singapore with Carlos Sainz, and knowing that the developments throughout the Formula One season allowed them to contend for second place in the championship until the last race with Mercedes.
One victory and seven pole positions may not be enough, so this winter in Maranello, there will be diligent work to close the gap with Max Verstappen and company.
Christian Danner’s Ratings
The end of the season allows Formula 1 pundits to give their ratings on the just-concluded championship, and Christian Danner – former driver for Zakspeed, Osella, Arrows, and Rial – did not hold back. The assessment of the Prancing Horse is quite clear: “Ferrari is once again a case, with many question marks. Their performances have been very inconsistent. Ferrari is far from the stability that this team needs to have a car to put on the track that essentially works immediately. Frederic Vasseur has an enormous job to do. I don’t know how he intends to solve the issue, in terms of personnel. From an organizational point of view, I believe he can do it, from a technical point of view, I don’t know.” – he pointed out.

Christian Danner also did not spare criticism for Mercedes, continuing his analysis on sport.de: “At the beginning, they made a fundamental mistake: showing up again with the old car concept. A catastrophic decision. I don’t understand how it could happen. The new concept was a bit less toxic but not even faster. Considering how many brilliant minds work there, you wonder how it’s possible. If McLaren can do it, Mercedes should too. They were a big disappointment.” A negative opinion was also expressed about Alpine’s 2023 campaign: “They started with the Oscar Piastri case disaster and continued with various layoffs, like Szafnauer, and other not-too-competent decisions. A thorough cleaning is needed.” – he concluded.
