Luigi Mazzola: Verstappen and Leclerc ahead of the rest, Antonelli made a big mistake
Luigi Mazzola shared his thoughts on the Dutch Grand Prix during Sky Race Anatomy, highlighting the performances of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Kimi Antonelli, and Lewis Hamilton.
Luigi Mazzola’s comments
Here’s what the former Ferrari engineer said: “Best overtakes of the race? I would put Verstappen’s pass on Norris and Leclerc’s move on Russell at turn 3 on the same level.”
“Right now, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc are making the difference, standing out from the rest, even without a top-tier car.”
“Leclerc deserves more, the car is holding him back. Lewis Hamilton? I’m surprised, he seems absent. He’s not performing like a seven-time world champion.”
“Antonelli made a big mistake, but the timing for the overtake was right because he had warm tires and Leclerc had just exited the pits.
“Let him [Antonelli] try; he’s a strong and fast driver, he just needs to let himself go. How many drivers have made mistakes like this? The first one that comes to mind is Verstappen. To Antonelli, I would say, ‘go and have fun again,'” Luigi Mazzola concluded at the end of the Dutch Grand Prix
Piastri and Norris
On his Instagram profile, Luigi Mazzola also emphasized the importance of Lando Norris’ retirement for the championship standings, noting that the Englishman is now 34 points behind the leader. He also praised Oscar Piastri’s “fantastic” performance, achieving a Grand Slam with pole position, leading every lap to victory, and setting the fastest lap of the race.
