In Mexico, Ferrari seems to have found the solution to its problems. But for some, it might have come a little too late.
After the podium in Austin, Ferrari managed to repeat the result in Mexico, showing that it may have finally solved the issues that limited the team throughout the season. On a demanding track like the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, known for testing the reliability of brakes and power units, the Maranello team managed to keep up with its rivals, especially during qualifying.
On Saturday in Mexico City, for a brief moment, Ferrari fans were given the chance to dream of seeing a red car on pole position. Something that had seemed impossible in recent weeks, given the major difficulties faced by the Maranello squad since returning from the summer break. McLaren, thanks to Lando Norris, once again demonstrated the superiority that has defined its season since winter testing, forcing Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton to start from the second and third rows.
In Maranello they have found the balance
Despite that, Ferrari’s progress is clear for everyone to see. This was also confirmed by Luigi Mazzola during the NewsF1 podcast. “Ferrari didn’t do badly in Texas either. Clearly, they have found some kind of solution. And now Lewis Hamilton has also found the performance that was missing until now. Overall, I have the impression that they have found the right balance between lift and coast and everything related to the car’s ride height. Maybe they found it a bit late, but they managed to bring a car that can finally be competitive,” said the former Ferrari engineer.
