Fred Vasseur has confirmed that Ferrari will return to the track for a series of tests that will assist another team in preparation for 2026. The details were revealed in the announcement made by the Team Principal.
The news had been circulating for some time, but now the official confirmation has arrived. According to Fred Vasseur’s statement, Ferrari will take part in on-track testing sessions designed to support another team ahead of the 2026 season. In a few months, the Formula 1 grid will expand with the highly anticipated debut of Cadillac, and the American outfit is working hard to be fully ready for this major milestone.
The main challenge concerns the lack of older single-seaters available for use to become familiar with all the procedures required during a race weekend. This explains Ferrari’s decision to help what will soon become a new customer team starting from next season. Cadillac has chosen to use engines built by the Maranello-based team in 2026, while waiting to independently develop this type of component in the future.
Fred Vasseur’s announcement
Returning to Fred Vasseur’s words, the Team Principal confirmed that Ferrari “will take to the track” for TPC tests that will support the new American team. “We have given up two days of our TPC program to Cadillac. For them, the challenge is enormous. It’s not so much about the car itself, but everything around it, from logistics to setting up the garage, as well as the IT systems and infrastructure,” said Fred Vasseur.
However, this is not an entirely new situation in the world of Formula 1, as the Ferrari boss himself pointed out. “During the Haas project, Komatsu set up something similar a couple of years before their debut. It’s a fundamental step to get used to the complexity of F1.”
